Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home from 600-1300 A.D.

Mesa Verde National Park was designated a World Heritage Site in 1978 and is one of the premier archeological sites in the world. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.

Amenities include ranger-led tours, numerous trails for the avid hiker, lodging, camping, restaurants, museum, and a Visitor and Research Center.
