Shiprock Pinnacle
Known
as Tse Bit'ta'i, "rock with wings", this land formation is sacred to the
Navajo people. The volcanic formation rises 1,700 feet above the basin
floor and can be seen from all four states and up to 100 miles. Because
of its religious significance, visitors are not allowed to climb the formation.
The Shiprock Pinnacle is located approx. 50 miles west-southwest of Aztec. |
