Chimney Rock Archaeological Area
The
archaeological area contains several ruins, several ruins have been excavated
and restored, while several others have been left undisturbed. The
area derives its name from two 300-ft pinnacles that the Chacoan Great
House overlooks. From the great house, a spectacular view of the
mesa, the San Juan Mountains to the east, and the Piedras River valley
to the west can be seen. Chimney Rock is located 64 miles northeast of
Aztec. |
