Durango & Silverton Railroad
Is a scenic historical train ride through the mountains between Durango and Silverton. The locomotives used to pull the train cars remain 100% coal-fired, steam-operated. The locomotives are 1923-25 vintage and are maintained in original condition. The coaches each feature bathroom facilities and are heated for the winter months. Open gondola cars provide a panoramic view of the mountains. The starting point for the train ride is in Durango which is 36 miles north of Aztec. Call ahead for reservations. |
