4. Lowry Pueblo Ruin
These ruins were originally
excavated in the 1930s and later restored in the 1960's. Accessible as
a self-guided trail (with wheelchair ramps), Lowry Ruin is typical medium-sized
pueblo with about 40 rooms and 8 kivas. Abandoned around 1150 A.D.,
one of the more interesting features is the actual kiva as found when excavated
by archaeologists, plaster and wooden shelves still intact. Lowry
Pueblo Ruin is approximately 104 miles northwest of Aztec. |
