Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Sheltered at the base of sheer red cliffs and in canyon wall caves are Anasazi cliff dwellings and villages that were built between AD 350 and 1300. Visitors to the monument have the chance to learn about Southwestern Indian history from the earliest basketmakers to the Navajo Indians who still live and farm in the canyon.

Touring of the Canyon can be done by individual vehicle along the North and South Rims, special tours conducted by park rangers, or by paid Navajo guide services.

Canyon de Chelly is located approx. 126 miles west-southwest of Aztec.
